"My Little Happiness" is a Chinese drama adapted from the novel " You Are My Happiness" (你是我的小确幸) by Dong Ben Xi Gu. It was shot from January 6 to May 12, 2020 in the city of Shenzhen.
An endearing synopsis
Chinese television releases every year many dramas of all kinds: romance, thriller, historical etc … This allows a large number of people to find what they are looking for. That said, there are always peculiarities in these categories… Different from Korean dramas (even if there are also clichés that come up regularly), Chinese dramas have this little extra thing that we love and that makes us come back to it. 
"My Little Happiness" tells the story of Cong Rong, a bright young woman, who dreams of becoming a lawyer. But her mother has other plans for her. Cong Rong pretends to be abroad to study according to her wishes, but secretly returns to China to fulfill her dream. She then became an intern in a law firm, and was sent on an internship in a large hospital where she met her cousin Zhong Zen, an intern under the orders of Wen Shao Qing, a renowned but cold surgeon. The beginnings with this doctor are difficult, but as time goes by, they get closer. Especially as fate interferes, and Wen Shao Qing quickly discovers that this intern is, in fact, his childhood friend that he has never forgotten, and that he has been looking for for a long time. Then begins this little candy drama on a medical and legal background.
A drama that stands out despite the clichés
Like any drama, at first glance, we could obviously blame it for some things: the story could seem too "simple", or we could say that we find the usual clichés. And it's true, but that's precisely what makes it its strong point: the drama tells the story of this main couple who find each other, build themselves, and this, quite quickly in the drama. And that's changing! Sometimes, in romantic comedies, you have to have watched three-quarters of the episodes to finally see the couple get together, and we only live their story at the end of the series. It's different, with "My Little Happiness": we discover the before, the beginning, but also the evolution of their story all along, and it feels good! No big dramatic scenes or big plots, no super villains "bad guys". A story, and very realistic scenes of life. The scenario may be simple but it's refreshing. It locks us in a kind of sweet cocoon that we no longer want to leave.
A visible chemistry between characters
Xing Fei, and Tang Xiao Tian match perfectly and take us totally into their story. He very teasing and very tall (1m88), she with character, small (1m64) but bright. The scenario plays as much on the opposition of their characters as their sizes. It is a duo that works and that brings us real satisfaction. Seeing them evolve makes us smile. They illustrate a "real" relationship and one can only adhere. 
Like any good romantic comedy, humor is present in "My Little Happiness". It is translated in particular by the cousin (Fu Wei Lun), a great character who makes us laugh a lot all along. It brings exactly the expected lightness. Some situations of the main couple also participate in the right dose of comedy to appreciate without falling into caricature. This Chinese series is a subtle blend of love, happiness and laughter: an almost perfect drama. 
Almost? Because we could obviously emit some small flats, and among others, that of the secondary couple: almost absent, crushed by the aura of the main couple. It is touching at the time, but almost forgotten afterwards. The drama is still very focused on Cong Rong and Wen Shao Qing who are beautiful, but perhaps at the expense of the side stories. We will forgive him this small flat given the depth of their couple which carries without difficulty and without length the totality of the drama.
The bonuses of "My Little Happiness"
"My Little Happiness" also has some nice surprises: during his internship, Cong Rong will live interesting legal episodes, which bring a more serious, unexpected but really pleasant side. Similarly, the secondary couple, living a complicated story, will also be able to bring its little share of adventures. Even if they are still present, the characters of the traditional "love triangle" are not ultra invasive, do not seek to do harm, and it feels good. The professional adventures and the evolution of the main couple show us a reality that could be that of anyone, and this is also what makes its strength. We cannot help but finish this review without making a small aside on the OST, also alternately jovial and sweet, so much in line with this drama. 
In short, "My Little Happiness" is a drama of 28 episodes of 45 minutes to enjoy without moderation. A beautiful romance that makes our little heart throb, perfect when you want to clear your head. It is a balanced mix between medical, legal, and slices of life, around a realistic story between two people who love each other and build their relationship.
