Times are tough for the writers, and we're not ready to escape reboots/remakes of old series… After Prison Break this season, it is the turn of an older series to perhaps soon make its comeback: Dynasty.
With 220 episodes over 9 seasons between 1981 and 1989 on ABC (then on France 3 for the French broadcast), is the series Dynasty about to rise from the ashes? This is in any case what the American channel CW would like for next season.
For the youngest among us, Dynasty told the story of the life of the wealthy Carrington family in Denver in the United States, in conflict with the Colbys family. Two families who are at war for the money and fate of their children… This series was launched at the time to counter Dallas' stranglehold on ratings. To do this, the producers had hired actress Joan Collins in the role of Alexis Carrington!
The task of rebooting this soap was entrusted to Josh Scwartz and Stephanie Savage, to whom we owe Gossip Girl or Newport Beach on the same channel, for the writing of a pilot. Richard Shapiro, the creator of the original series, retains an executive producer role, alongside Lis Rowinski (Runaway).
The initial idea would be to resume the original story by replacing the role of Krystle Jennings, originally held by actress Linda Evans, by a Hispanic actress, in order to stick as closely as possible to the evolutions of today's society.
The CW continues to update old series, such as 90210, sequel to Beverly Hills, 90210, or Melrose Place…
While waiting of course for the reboot of the Magnum series, where we could see the daughter of the most famous mustachioed detective, find the review of the series from the movie Lethal Weapon !
