We recently presented Taishi Tsutsui's series, We Never Learn, available since 2017 at Kazé edition. An anime version is also available since 2019, but what is it worth? We Never Learn consists of two seasons with 13 episodes each. Everything is available on the legal streaming platform Wakanim.

"Nariyuki is a brilliant and poor high school student who dreams of getting a scholarship to continue his studies at the university of his choice. Luck smiled on him when the headmaster offered to grant it to him… But on two conditions! Become the tutor of the two geniuses of the high school. Rizu and Fumino. The task should have been very easy, but the beautiful ladies reserve a big surprise for him! »

This article only concerns the first two episodes of the series, the T01 of the manga.

A successful adaptation?

we never learn In the world of japanimation, it often happens that anime and manga are different. Although following a common plot, the anime adaptation can take liberties to add or skip certain passages deemed superfluous. This is not the case for the adaptation of the first volume of We Never Learn. Indeed, the first volume of the series has been adapted with great precision. All the important moments, comic or informative are present in these first two episodes. We had the impression of rediscovering this volume, in color. In addition, the essence of the characters also seems to have been transcribed. Whether by the shyness of certain characters, their passion or their disgust with studies, all these emotions and behaviors appear in the anime and are very well brought. Seeing them in action allowed us to immerse ourselves a little more in this story and appreciate some of its details. Only Nariyuki's perversion seems a little more advanced than in its paper equivalent, but nothing too embarrassing, rest assured. Indeed, it remains well dosed and is not too heavy to bear.

Quality animation

we never learn On the animation side, the animation studios Arvo Animation (Tsuki to Laika to Nosferatu) and Silver (Idol☆Sister) offer us quality. These two studios do not have a lot of productions to their credit, 5 anime each (including the 2 seasons and an OAV of We Never Learn), but have nothing to envy to the other studios. The characters are very well represented. Whether it's their emotions or reactions, everything is easily recognizable. The graphics are also fluid and the "action" scenes (like the one taking place at the pool) are pleasant to watch. In addition, situation comedy also has an important place in the paper series. To our delight, the anime adaptation is successful and allowed us to enjoy some scenes again. Finally, on the side of the soundtrack, we must admit that we did not retain any particular music, although it fits with the story. As said before, the series is also available in paper format. 17 volumes are currently available from Kazé. Volume 18 will be available from July 7th.   We can therefore say that the anime adaptation of We Never Learn is a success. Whether in paper version or anime version, this series is always pleasant to discover. We invite you, if you are interested in shojo, to dive into this romance as quickly as possible.
