After Ratched and Hollywood in 2021, the collaboration between Netflix and director Ryan Murphy seems to be going straight: their new series Halston, will be available on May 14.
A new Netflix series about luxury fashion
Ryan Murphy loves fashion and makes it known. In 2018, the director was interested in the murder of fashion designer Gianni Versace in the second season of American Crime Story, then showed his love for clothing through the balls of Pose, whose last season is currently broadcast on Canal +. This year, the creator of Glee and American Horror Story offers a new realization and brings to life a fashion star: Roy Halston Frowick. This new Netflix miniseries, simply called Halston, is inspired by the real life of the great couturier. The series traces his story, from his beginnings as a fashion designer, to fame and fame in the 1970s. He dressed Jackie Kennedy and created the famous casual chic style. The program also addresses his descent into hell and his death from complications of AIDS in 1990, at the age of 57. The screenplay features Sharr White and Ian Brennan, two loyal associates of Ryan Murphy. To play the role of Halston on screen, we will find actor Ewan McGregor (Star Wars, Moulin Rouge). At his side, Ryan Murphy opts for a high-flying cast: Bill Pullman (Independence Day), Krysta Rodriguez who plays Liza Minelli, Rory Hugh Culkin ( Macaulay's brother), Vera Farmiga (Conjuring), Gian Franco Rodriguez, Rebecca Dayan who plays jewelry designer Elsa Peretti. It should be noted that the story between Netflix and Ryan Murphy does not end there: the director will create a new series about one of the most famous serial killers in America, Jeffrey Dahmer. Evan Peters, one of his proteges from American Horror Story and Pose, will play the leading role.
