Netflix has not finished surprising us; After several months of waiting, the platform finally releases its new animated film, Journey to the Moon. Between Chinese culture and modernity, served by a magnificent animation and an original story, the film, heir to the greatest Disney takes us on a fabulous journey, and it is a great success. In a Chinese village of our time, the young Fei Fei must face family upheavals that push her to take refuge in the dreams of Chinese legends that she heard so much in her childhood. Afraid of losing the relationship with his father, animated by painful memories and a desire to commemorate the memory of his mother, Fei Fei, thanks to his unparalleled intelligence, will then decide to prove the existence of his favorite legend by organizing an expedition to the moon. His wonderful journey will thus take him to meet fabulous friends, in an initiatory journey sometimes predictable, but always poetic. 
An animation worthy of the greatest Disney
From the first minutes of Journey to the Moon, through beautiful Chinese landscapes and characters with round features and full of sweetness, we can not avoid the comparison with the greatest Disney and Pixar films. And this comparison is quickly justified when we see that behind the Netflix animated film animators Glen Keane and John Kars, the dads of so many classics : with The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Tarzan or Treasure Planet for one, and Toy Story 2, Ratatouille and Frozen for the other, it is not surprising to find in Journey to the Moon such beautiful animations worked in every detail. So Netflix, thanks to the talents of such good animators, does not have to blush in front of the biggest animation studios. Faced with so many expectations, however, we can regret landscapes and lunar characters a little smooth and too fluorescent, which will surely delight children, but which, in the eyes of more seasoned spectators, contrast with the poetry and sweetness of the first moments. Of course, we cannot forget to mention the many songs, which bring us back once again to our memories of old (and not so old) Disney, and which accompany us and comfort us in a well-known universe of classic animation. With a rhythm sometimes rushed in the beginning, but a well dosed action, Journey to the Moon has everything of the greatest to seduce. 
Mourning without forgetting your dreams
Fei Fei's journey to the moon could be seen as an allegory of the initiatory journey of mourning, until finding peace thanks to the dreams that accompany the girl in all her adventure. With themes so simple to grasp for all, and yet so essential to any construction towards adulthood, Journey to the Moon sees its characters grow, evolve and learn in a path that is always logical, and perhaps sometimes quite predictable. Between moving and touching moments, which will bring a few tears to the most emotional, Fei Fei's story will recall the fears and anxieties symptomatic of modern families, without unfortunately reaching the depth of the best of the genre. All the elements come together for a great cartoon, between nostalgia for the first Disney and modern and touching themes, which make us travel with Fei Fei in this wonderful initiatory journey.
Chinese culture and modernity
An American and Chinese co-production, Journey to the Moon takes us on a journey to discover Chinese culture and all its wonders. Thus between the legends of Chang'e, goddess of the moon, the Jade rabbit, and dragons (symbols of perseverance, which therefore take a special place at the heart of the story to accompany Fei Fei) mix the more classic cultural elements, with the traditional Ping Pong or the delicious Mooncake, or the references to the cinema, with the classic Voyage dans la lune by Georges Méliès.At first very classic, the Netflix film will gradually prove to be quite modern, until the climax which will see C-pop invite at the turn of a concert in weightlessness quite confusing. In the desire to please all spectators, Journey to the Moon is ultimately never as beautiful as in its poetic moments out of time and space, which will charm all ages. Resolutely intended for children in many aspects, the modern and touching adventure of the young Fei Fei will still touch all animation lovers thanks to a very pleasant visual touch and a touching story despite some facilities. A very beautiful animated film, which will remain as one of the references on the American platform.
