The famous Studio Ghibli, known for its extraordinary stories shaped from very aesthetic traditional drawings, seems to be making change. Indeed, we recently learned that the film directed by Goro Miyazaki, the son of Hayao Miyazaki, would be in 3D animation. A rather surprising news from the Japanese studio, which seemed until now, want to stay in 2D animation.
But no, these are the very first images of the next production of Totoro's house. It is important to note, however, that this will be a TV movie, since Aya and the Witch will be broadcast on NHK in Japan. Unfortunately, no broadcast in Europe has yet been mentioned, but the partnership already engaged with Netflix since February 2020 could continue in this direction. As a reminder, Aya and the Witch is an adaptation of the novel Earwig and the Witch, written by Diana Wynne Jones. We follow the adventures of a young orphan girl in England, adopted by wizards. And this adaptation could prove to be a good vintage. Diana Wynne Jones has already seen one of her works adapted by Ghibli with The Travelling Castle (2004). A great success. This is why Goro Miyazaki's film may be a future classic for the Japanese studio. But also a new success for Miyazaki son, after Tales of Earthsea (2006) and Poppy Hill (2011).
We therefore look forward to the successof the events. Especially since Hayao Miyazaki, despite his parallel project , supervises everything. Definitely the trailer!
