The new section, Star, arrives on February 23 on the SVoD platform. Withits content to a more adult audience, Disney hopes to appeal to parents and young adults. Catalog, price, operation… Here's everything you need toknow about it . 
Since its launch in 2020, Disney+ has not offered anything other than its Disney or Pixar classics, as well as the Star Wars and Marvel movies. So there were very few novelties or original creations on the platform, but this point is about to change from February 23. Indeed, the subscription video-on-demand (SVoD) platform will welcome a new section entitled Star, which will contain series and films dedicated to a more adult audience. Disney's "all audiences" strategy will soon change, and while waiting for the arrival of the new section, here's everything you need to know.
What is Star?
Star is a new section integrated into Disney+ that will contain series and films dedicated to a more adult audience. This new "world", as Disney likes to call it, complements the other five pre-existing ones: Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, Marvel and National Geographic. With Star, content from FOX, ABC, Searchlight and 21st Century studios will be integrated into the service. In addition, original productions will emerge and will be added little by little to the catalog. Enough to diversify and seduce even more spectators.
The different contents
On Star, subscribers will be able to discover or rediscover more than forty series. These include "24 Hours", "X-Files", "Alias", "Castle", "Glee", "How I Met Your Mother", "Lost", "Ugly Betty", "Grey's Anatomy" and many more. And some 250 films, including classics such as "Pretty Woman", "Alien", "Titanic", "Crystal Trap", "The Devil Wears Prada" or "Planet of the Apes". But also more recent productions such as "3 Billboards", "The Grand Budapest Hotel" or "A couteaux drawn".
Original Disney creations
Among Disney's announcements, at the press conference on February 16, 2021, the creation of original content is one of the great novelties. As for the series, four exclusives land immediately on the platform. This is:
- Big Sky, a thriller film by producer David E. Kelley.
- Love, Victor, a spin-off of the movie Love, Simon.
- Solar Opposites, an animated sitcom created by Justin Roiland and Mike McMahan (Rick and Morty).
- Helstrom, a science fiction series produced by Paul Zbyszewski, Karim Zreik and Jeph Loeb
Original French creations coming to Star
Another big announcement of the conference on February 16, Disney will produce two French series for the catalog of Star.
- Oussekine, a mini-series of 4 episodes on the Malik Oussekine case, its consequences and the life of the family after the tragedy.
- Soprano, à la vie à la mort, a documentary series retracing the singer's career and his successes.
In addition, two European series have been announced, these are Parallèles and Week-end Family. Note also that eventually, 24 films and 21 French series will fill the Disney+ Star offer in 2021. Examples include Moloch, Fais pas ci, fais pas ça, Je te promets, Un Homme d'Honneur, Clem, Les Bracelets rouges, Jappeloup, Les Enfants de Timpelbach or The Artist…
Enhanced parental controls for Star
With Star, Disney is moving away from its "all audience" strategy, but the new space will be protected by extensive parental control features. Thus, to watch new movies and series, you will have to enter a PIN code. In addition, an age limit may be set on the different profiles to limit access to certain content. 
New world, new price
From February 23, you can no longer be subscribed to Disney + without having access to the Star offer. From now on, each new subscription will cost 8.99 euros per month or 89.90 euros per year (against 6.99 euros and 69.99 euros currently). Those who are already subscribed to Disney+ will not see their rate change for six months. But from 22 August, they will also pay 8.99 euros per month (or 89.90 euros per year).
Why subscribe before February 23?
If you subscribe before February 23, the rate will not increase until August 2021 (if you have opted for a monthly withdrawal). If you prefer the annual subscription, the price (69.99 €) will not vary before the end of your subscription, one year later. Enough to make a nice saving of 20 €. In addition, renewal in the amount of €69.99 is possible until August 2021 for current Disney+ customers.
