Icelandic composer Jóhann Jóhannsson has died for reasons still unknown, at the age of 48.

    Johann Johannsson

Renowned in the cinephilic sphere for his work on Prisoners, Sicario, Premier Contact or Mother!, the composer specialized in electronic and captivating sounds. Awarded at the Golden Globes for his work on A Wonderful History of Time, the composer risks leaving a big void in the Hollywood world, especially with regard to the most ambitious artistic projects. We think in particular of Denis Villeneuve, for whom he worked several times (including the incredible soundtrack of First Contact). However, we note his absence on Blade Runner 2049, for which he gave way to Hans Zimmer and Benjamin Wallfisch.

As the cause of his death is still unexplained, an investigation is currently underway. Tim Husom, the musician's manager, said of his passing:

I am deeply sad. Today I lost my friend. He was one of the most talented musicians and one of the smartest men I have ever known.

We will be able to discover one of Jóhann Jóhannsson's latest compositions through the film Mary Magdalene which will be released next March.

We can only hope that the results of the investigation into this death are conclusive, because dying so young always leaves room for various questions… Business to follow.
