RUN is the return of the duo Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Vicky Jones. After the success of Fleabag, the two young women present us a series that fulfills a fantasy shared by many people. What if we left everything to escape? 
The pitch
Ruby (Merritt Wever, unmissable in Unforgettable) is a young mother who, at first glance, does not seem fulfilled at all. We meet her for the first time in the parking lot of a Target supermarket (the action takes place in the USA). She is on the phone with her husband who asks her to cancel his yoga class to receive a package delivered to their home. Ruby agrees. But as she prepares to return home, she receives a text message, with only one word: RUN. The sender: Billy. The young woman is shocked, anguished and at the same time, excited by the sight of this message. We quickly understand that this Billy played an important role in Ruby's life and that "RUN" is a code established between two people. RUN, between rom-com and thriller in (almost) closed doors
This is the promise of the latest creation by Vicky Jones and Phoebe Waller-Bridge. We already know these two talented young women thanks to the series Fleabag, adapted from the play of the same name. While Waller-Bridge is in the spotlight (but also in writing), his best friend, Jones, acts behind the scenes as a writer and producer. And in RUN, we find the charm of the duo's creations. From the beginning, the rhythm is set and the viewer finds himself witnessing a shameful but so exciting escape of a disoriented and disillusioned young mother. After flying to New York, she joins Billy, played by the brilliant Domhnall Gleeson (Black Mirror, About Time) on a train to Chicago. Train that seems to be the main setting of the plot. Are they former lovers? Childhood lovers who finally find themselves? Is Ruby really the only one running away from something? Only time and episodes of RUN will tell. The story is revealed only little by little, as in a detective investigation. We do not know why they are there, how they came to set this appointment, but we are dying to know more. 
The tension between the two characters, both sentimental and sexual, grabs us from the moment they find themselves reunited on screen. Our feelings about their escapades become more complex to the rhythm of theirs. This is also how we find the Waller-Bridge / Jones leg, which had pleased so much in Fleabag. The ambiguity between excitement and indifference, passion and platonic, love and hate… With RUN, the boundaries are blurred. Ruby and Billy are definitely no ordinary protagonists.
The Appetizing Promise of RUN
With such a cast and two first episodes as successful, we expect a season 1 at the height of this appetizer. Phoebe Waller-Bridge will also be part of the adventure, in a secondary role. The talented actress with an ultra-busy schedule (between the awards for Fleabag and the writing of the next James Bond) still wanted to make an appearance in her best friend's project! The codes of the romantic comedy meeting those of the thriller, we can expect a lot of surprises from RUN. Murder, disappearances, revenge… Some plots have already been set up and we can't wait to see how they take shape. RUN is broadcast in France on the OCS platform. Go for it!
