MASTERPIECE "CAROL" by Todd Haynes

Last night's program was clear, go see Carol, in room 1 of the filmmakers' cinema, place de Clichy (Paris). Little did I know what was going to happen to me. Overwhelmed first by the music of Carter Burwell (tracklist), it was then the colors, clothes and decorations that touched me one by one. I was overwhelmed by the story of Carol and Thérèse Belivet.   This film is adapted from Patricia Highsmith's second novel, originally published under the pseudonym Claire Morgan, and tells the birth of a love story between two women in the 1950s. It took 20 years to see Carol in the movies. A first attempt was made in the early 2000s. A producer had acquired the rights to the novel and hired screenwriter Phyllis Nagy, a close friend of the novelist for the latter part of her life. Patricia Highsmith had always wanted to see her "banned" book brought to the screen. This is the first time in a long time that I feel love as it should be and as I think it should inspire the world: courageous, just and honest. Cate Blanchette is extraordinary as Carol and Rooney Mara seems "fallen from the sky". This actress, à la Audrey Hepburn, since her interpretation prize at Cannes in 2015 for this role has not finished surprising us.   Carolthérèse Run to see the movie! Trailer.
