Good news! Filming for Furiosa, the Mad Max prequel, will begin in June.  Aged 76,  George Miller will begin the gigantic filming in his native Australia. The director of Mad Max has been working for many months already on a spin-off of Fury Road. The film will focus on the character of Furiosa, in his early years. Thus, the prequel will go into production soon. George Miller talks about filming in Australia in June. During a recent press conference in New South Wales, the filmmaker shared his ideas for this new installment of the franchise, produced by Warner Bros. Pictures. Miller hopes to film Furiosa this summer. And open your ears: according to the Prime Minister of the Australian State, Glady Berejiklian, the project will become the "greatest film ever made in Australia"! The prequel is expected to receive subsidies from the state and federal government. A way to guarantee a certain filming in the land of kangaroos. Miller also confirmed that they have already built cars and prepared stunts for a key action sequence. The Australian director told Variety:

"The support of the federal and New South Wales governments has been essential. They allowed the film to be validated (by Warner Bros.) to be shot in Australia and for the production to be based in our home country."

During the same press conference, George Miller also revealed a new detail of Furiosa's history, explaining that the project will be particularly familiar to fans of the franchise:

"While Fury Road was essentially three days and two nights, Furiosa will take place over many years. We always try to make unique and familiar films. This one will resonate with those who know Mad Max, and especially Fury Road, but at the same time, it will also be a unique film."

You will understand: Furiosa will be an independent feature film, but that will not lack references to the 2015 film – where the character was played by Charlize Theron – or the franchise made famous by Mel Gibson. This time, we will find Anya Taylor-Joy (The Lady's Game) who will reprise the title role, alongside Chris Hemsworth (Ghostbusters) and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Watchmen). If we can't wait to see the start of filming, we will have to be more patient to see Furiosa whose release is expected in theaters two years after the shooting, in June 2023!
