In March 2019, Dragon Ball Super Broly was released in France. The animated film had then gathered nearly 600,000 spectators in theaters. This reinforced the enthusiasm of French fans for the franchise. Globally, the animated film raised $115 million in greenbacks on a budget of $8 million. This triumph then allowed it to become the biggest success of the saga. And that's what seems to have convinced the Toei studio. Indeed, the historic studio founder of the franchise announces that it has started work on a new feature film. Dragon Ball Super Broly: A second installment is planned for 2022

It was during Goku Day held on Sunday, May 9 that the Japanese firm communicated the information. The sequel to Dragon Ball Super Broly is therefore well and truly in production. The film is expected to land by 2022.

It must be said that this news was eagerly awaited by the aficionados of Vegeta, Goku and the whole gang! Indeed, the animated series stopped in 2018. And since the release of Broly the following year, Toei had not given any news of the franchise, leaving fans in waiting.

Akira Toriyama's statements

As if to give more impact to the news, the studio accompanied the reveal of a new feature film with a statement from Akira Toriyama, the creator of Dragon Ball himself, who confides:

"After Dragon Ball Super: Broly, a new movie is in the works! Just like the previous film, I'm very involved in the script and dialogue. I don't have to give too much away about the plot, but expect extreme and entertaining fights, which could involve an unexpected character."
