At the foot of the city of Orse lies the Abyss, a gigantic fault of unknown depth inhabited by strange creatures and filled with ancient relics. Pre-published in the web-magazine Manga Life Win published by Takeshobo since 2012, the manga Made in Abyss is a title directed by Tsukushi Akihito, a former employee from the video-game universe. If its title remains quite confidential during its debut, it is its anime adaptation broadcast in 2017 (on Wakanim in France), which will send it into the spotlight. Passionate about virtual fantasy universes, its author was inspired by them to create his manga. It was during an exhibition at the National Museum of Nature and Science in Ueno in front of a cut tree, that he decided on the shape of the abyss, which was at the heart of his work. Made in Abyss is a work that will undoubtedly please the West because of its universe close to Jules Vernes' famous title Journey to the Center of the Earth.
