This 3rd day at the Annecy Animation Festival comes to an end. On the program are two screenings of films in competition and meetings with the Brazilian delegation.

Brazil succeeds the Middle Kingdom as guest of honor at the Annecy Festival. The country is celebrating this year the centenary of its animation. Among the ten films in competition Tito and the Birds represents Brazil (which we see this Thursday). For the occasion we met Marcia Nejaim Galvao de Almeidia from the production company Apex Brasil, Leticia Friedrich from the production company Boulevard Filmes and Celia Catunda from TV PinGuim. They told us about their country, their films, Brazilian animation and the status of women. Meetings summarized in our VLOG 3, but which will soon be reused in a special Brazil file by Alexandre Chadha. He also met Eduardo Calvet, director of Luz Anima Açao, a tribute to Brazilian animation. An intervention that will appear in Alexandre's special Brazil file. Annecy is therefore in the colors of Brazil with many reports, short films, meetings and feature films.

As for the screenings of the day we attended Parvana, a childhood in Afghanistan and Wall. The first is directed by Nora Twomey, and is an animated film about the youth of a young girl in Kabul. A fascinating work that returns to the condition of women. Wall, directed by Cam Christiansen, is an animated documentary about the conflict between Palestine and Israel. This Canadian production focuses on the wall erected by Israel and compares it to the Berlin Wall. Finally, Insect by Jan Svankmajer was presented in an exceptional session. This Slovak film, which combines stop-motion and live action, is directly in line with the superb Alice (1988) already directed by Jan Svankmajer.
