It seems that between reboots, sequels, prequels, remakes and other types of feature films related to cinematic sagas, the fashion is also that of spin-offs.

Indeed, we have already dealt with Rogue One and Solo on the Star Wars side, with Boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi still in project. Then, the trailer of Bumblebee on the Transformers side was unveiled a few weeks ago. Finally today, it seems that on the side of Fast & Furious, the spin-off Hobbs & Shaw (dedicated to the characters played respectively by Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham) begins to materialize more seriously since a newcomer, and not least, joins the cast.

It is therefore Idris Elba, unveiled mainly in the series On Listen in 2002 and popularized with, among many other films, his role of Heimdal in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He is a great American actor who is no longer presented and who knows how to vary styles, active on both the small and the big screen. The British actor would thus embody the antagonist of this first spin-off of the Fast & Furious franchise dedicated to two of his big arms. Recall in passing that the character of Luke Hobbs was introduced in the fifth part of the saga in 2011 and that of Deckard Shaw at the end of the next part released in 2013. Each has appeared in every other game since then.

This spin-off will be apart from the ninth and tenth films that will conclude the saga. The latter already have their respective release dates, namely April 2020 (and not in 2019 as previously announced) and April 2021. However, we already know that this spin-off includes a script by Chris Morgan, who has worked on all Fast & Furious since Tokyo Drift in 2006. Dwayne Johnson is also expected to be among the producers.

We now know the three main headliners of Hobbs & Shaw, without having a specific date this time, even if we can count on a probable release around the summer of 2019. A new feature film that will bring its stone to the building and that will certainly further inflate the revenues of the franchise which already amount to more than five billion dollars at the global box office at the moment.
