This summer, it was the first episode of the anime Made in Abyss that caught our eye (and heart). This fall, it's Girl's Last Tour that wins my favors! An anime that is the adaptation of the eponymous manga, created by Tsukumizu. Discover with us the story of these two little girls like no other, who take us on a mature and poetic journey.

This review does not contain any major revelations that could spoil your viewing of the first episode of Girl's Last Tour. But it's up to you to see if you want to watch the episode first, before reading some details that you might have liked to discover with the anime. That we strongly advise you to watch!

Two girls and a half-track. The end of the world.

Bolts, metal pipes, a drop of water falling. A light in the distance and is drawn then reveals the contours of a machine that grows little by little. On board, two silhouettes, barely higher than three apples. Yūri and Chito are two little girls not quite like the others… Forget the current and tortured world as you know it, there is no trace of it. In the world explored by the two children, everything is debris, piles and ruins. A world with lights and an atmosphere of the end of the war. Cold. Austere. No soul. If not those of our two budding explorers.

Many mysteries surround this world, where bullets litter the snowy ground and the artificial lights of cities are no more. What could have happened to make mankind on the verge of extinction? Why did the war break out? What happened to all the others? How did they get to this funny place where we first discover them? An old proverb, whose veracity is to be proven, about holes. That is the only question we can answer at this time. For the rest, it will take a little patience. Yūri and Chito will probably answer it soon enough.

    Girl's Last Tour War

With such a scenario, Girl's Last Tour is already eye-catching and will attract its audience very quickly. An audience that should prove to be more than conquered and excited by this first episode and its riches that promise for the future… You too, let yourself board the half-track to follow the adventures of young Yūri and Chito!

A touching duo for a fair look

Yūri is blonde, outgoing and a good shooter. She loves to sleep. Chito is brunette, pragmatic, discreet and has a secret technique to pull Yout of her sleep. Between them, they form a funny and touching duo, of which we do not know much. If not anything. But already, the magic is working and we are under the spell of these two little beings who must survive on the edge of the end of the world. That was enough to enchant us.

Girl's Last Tour Yuri and Chito

But these two little girls about whom we know nothing know a lot. And have, despite their apparent young age, already gained some life experience. The war does not seem to have spared them, but they were able to seize their chance and survive, where few other men are still alive. With intelligence and brilliance. Two little girls who have it in the caboche and who freely express their feelings, during the exploration she leads in an autochenille. The unpleasant feeling of hunger, the cold of waking up or the excitement of discovery, everything goes there. With simple words, skillfully described sensations that make us feel things instantly. How not to succumb to the obvious charm of Chito and Yūri, cute, brave and reckless in the face of the end of the world, who do not seem to feel fear. Even the darkness, faintly repelled by the unique headlight of their half-track, does not seem to frighten them.

    Why do men make war?

Like children their age, Yu and Chi ask the questions. Without detours, with incisive precision. A recurring topical issue in recent years, which we have not finished raising. And to the complex answer. And yet perfectly obvious when it is Yūri who answers it. And this is where the anime makes us realize how deep and mature it will be. And that we have a lot to learn from these two children.

    A poetic and mature atmosphere

Girl's Last Tour promises to be one of my biggest favorites of the year – along with Made in Abyss, you've figured it out all along. A magical discovery, like a flight, an interval where time seems to stop to let Yu and Chi guide us through life. Because Girl's Last Tour could become a real guide to life. Useful, valuable and accurate.

Precious in its magical moments. Those moments when nature touches us, resonates in us. A starry night, where the universe makes us feel smaller than a grain of sand in its immensity. Landscapes sublimated by a magnificent and poetic animation, proposed by the studio WHITE FOX. This tiny but precious moment of sharing, of a good hot soup, which warms the body and the soul. Yū and Chi have the power to remind us of these mundane moments, which ultimately take on an important meaning if we take the time to live them.

Useful and accurate. Girl's Last Tour is also a survival guide. Rationality and economy for these two little girls who cross a country close to the end of the world. Learn how to save food and components. Learn to find your way in the depths. Learn to share. And to forgive. A kawaii wandering in a post-apocalyptic world that may teach us a lot about life.

We also salute the wonderful work of the composer, which gives a vibrant and poetic dimension to this anime. Without this moving soundtrack, the animation would lose its accuracy and beauty. I can't wait to hear more about these beautiful OSTs that have already capsized my heart!

So many reasons that make us love this first episode of Girl's Last Tour! We look forward to the continuation of Yū and Chi's adventures on Wakanim !
