From October 14 to April 26, a retrospective of the work of expressionist painter Bernard Buffet will be held at the Museum of Modern Art  of the city of Paris. This is an opportunity to discover, or rediscover the exceptional work of one of the great French painters of the twentieth century.

One of the great French painters of the twentieth century

Bernard Buffet, who had made painting his reason for living, has nothing to envy to Picasso or Chagall. His paintings, prized by collectors, sometimes reach six-figure prices. However, it has not always been dubbed by critics even if from its beginnings, the public responds present.

    A societal artist

The chronological itinerary of the exhibition seeks to show the rapid notoriety that the artist acquires as well as the questions related to the post-war context. His painting, sometimes considered austere, reveals the disarray of society. With the powerful accentuation of the lines, the determination of the gesture and the grayish colors, the Buffet style is singular and opens the way to virulent debates.
