In September 2011, DC Comics launched The New 52, a complete relaunch of the superhero universe. In 2016, Rebirth took over. Presented with a goal of restoring the DC Universe in a form similar to that which prevailed before the Flashpoint, Rebirth will be published in France by the publisher Urban Comics in May 2017!
A little more than 6 months after the Rebirth relaunch in the United States, the French publisher Urban Comics has just announced that it intends to publish it in May 2017. We should first discover a gigantic album of 592 pages, DC Universe Rebirth. Imagined by Geoff Johns, we will be able to discover the DC Universe Rebirth #1 issue and all the special issues that accompany it, in bookstores.
Then, the publication between June and July 2017 will include:
- Batman Rebirth (Tom King & David Finch)
- Wonder Woman Rebirth (Greg Rucka & Nicola Scott)
- Justice League Rebirth (Bryan Hitch & Tony Daniel)
- Suicide Squad Rebirth (Rob Williams & Jim Lee)
- Superman Rebirth (Peter Tomasi & Patrick Gleason)
- Batman Detective Comics (James Tynion IV & Eddy Barrows)
The second wave will break out between September and November with:
- Nighwing Rebirth (Tim Seeley & Javier Fernandez)
- Flash Rebirth (Joshua Williamson & Carmine Di Giandomenico)
- Green Arrow Rebirth (Benjamin Percy & Otto Schmidt)
- All-Star Batman (Scott Snyder, John Romita Jr & Declan Shalvey)
- Trinity (Francis Manapul)
- Batman Rebirth – Volume 2
- Justice League Rebirth – Volume 2
- Wonder Woman Rebirth – Volume 2
As for the kiosks, the change is expected in May 2017. The reader will be able to discover four monthly magazines with a new pagination (from 180 to 192 pages!) and a slightly increased price (from 5.60€ to 5.90€). The title Universe will be transformed into Rebirth for:
- Batman Rebirth: You can find Batman, Detective Comics, Nightwing, and All-Star Batman (from August).
- Justice League Rebirth: Justice League, Action Comics, Flash, Hal Jordan & The Green Lantern Corps.
- Suicide Squad Rebirth: Suicide Squad, Harley Queen, Deathstroke and Suicide Squad: Most Wanted.
Finally, a monthly will appear (replacing Superman Universe), with a complete DC story: the first month will be devoted to DC Universe Rebirth #1 but thereafter, we must expect Titan Rebirth, Batgirl & The Birds of Prey, Green Lantern …
For the uninitiated, this will be the time to start reading DC comics since the Rebirth works as a real renaissance. Indeed, each first volume will be a gateway to the DC universe, even if you know nothing about it! The basic elements will be recalled, and we trust Urban Comics to give us lots of essential information!
