The Star Wars spin-off dedicated to the famous bounty hunter Boba Fett had been entrusted to Josh Trank according to Entertainment Weekly. Yet the film fell into oblivion.

A year and a half ago Josh Trank, the director of Chronicle, left the project of the spin-off centered on the beloved Boba Fett community. No one knows if the filmmaker left the ship on his own or if he was fired by LucasFilm because of the very bad reputation of his reboot of Fantastic 4, a commercial and critical failure. In any case, it seems that the filmmaker had to work on the realization of a feature film centered on Boba Fett, the most famous bounty hunter of the saga who had delivered Han Solo in the hands of Jabba the Hutt between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the project was at an advanced stage since the film was apparently due to be officially announced at the 2015 Star Wars Celebration, where a first teaser was even to be unveiled. This spin-off no longer gives any sign of life, overshadowed by the announcement of the film about the youth of Han Solo scheduled for May 25, 2018. As for Josh Trank, he told the Los Angeles Times at the time that it was "the most difficult decision of my life", he is currently preparing a biopic on Al Capone with Tom Hardy.

However, we imagine that Boba will be in the game against Han Solo in his spin-off in 2018, a way to console himself.
