Contains spoilers

This second part of The Get Down tells the continuation of the story of Zeke and his friends in the Bronx of the 70s where they had been left. Zeke continues his internship at the town hall in order to get an entrance to a large school. In parallel, The Get Down Brothers continue their career and make more and more people dance to their delight.

Zeke discovers at a dinner the lie of Ed Koch. Indeed, the new mayor had promised Francisco new housing in return for his support. The mayor refuses them. Upon learning this lie, Zeke stops his internship.

While performing this action, his aunt evicts him from her home. Zeke has no choice but to live with Shaolin. Shaolin still works for Annie. However, he tries several times to escape his control with Zeke's support. In addition, Annie's son Clarence's hatred of him exacerbates the pressure he is under.

Shaolin will make many mistakes by betraying Zeke's trust. Indeed, by wanting to prevent Boo-boo from dealing with dishonest people he will lie to Zeke by implicating Boo Boo in his shady affairs.

Mylene started her career brilliantly thanks to the support of her father. Indeed, her father allows her to sing with her two friends as long as she sings religious songs. Jackie, the lyricist, always accompanies Mylene. Now, an agent makes the connection with his parents and the record company. The director of the latter wants Mylene to become a sexier icon. This will create a lot of tension but also great moments of musical.

She will also get a role in a new musical replacing Misty Holloway, her favorite singer at the beginning of the series.

Lydia, Mylene's mother, will continue her relationship with Francisco. Ramon, Mylene's father, discovers through this relationship that his eldest is not his and commits suicide at the end of the season.

The Get Down continues to make us want to dance and sing as much with the performances of the Get Down Brothers as those of Mylene and the Madonnas.

The representation of the Bronx of the 70s is still as successful. Indeed, the sets and costumes match perfectly.

Secondary characters are better characterized and have more importance. Each of the Kipling brothers has their own story in this second part. Indeed, Ra-Ra discovers another part of the Bronx and goes beyond his limits to seduce the woman he loves. Dizzie continues her story with Thor. At the beginning of this season of The Get Down, Thor finds himself in jail for tagging and Dizzie tells him what happens to his friends through drawings he sends her. The series is energized by this touch of poetry. As for the last Boo-boo, he makes bad choices to seduce a girl and asks Shaolin to piston him to help in Fat Annie's drug trafficking.

If you like happy endings and where we know that everything will be fine, this is not for you! Mylene and Zeke separate. The latter argues violently with Shaolin. Not to mention that Mylene's father commits suicide!

This last season is really excellent! The characters are at their best to conclude this series. The soundtrack always makes you want to move and rediscover these styles of music!
