H is a French series created by Kader Aoun, Xavier Mathieux and Eric Judor. It was broadcast on Canal + from 1998 to 2002. The series spans 4 seasons. Today cult and real training center for actors, the series is available on the VOD platform Netflix. Focus on this series that marked a generation.

"In a hospital in the suburbs of Paris, 3 interns maintain a slightly offbeat atmosphere. Between blunders, bad tastes and other mistakes, we never get bored with Sabri, Aymé and Jamel! "

H : Why is it cult?

What's magical about this hospital is that you can do anything: order pizzas, play cards, meet celebrities, die… Absolutely everything! Except to get treatment. And that's what we love most about this series. This hospital, "it's like a box of chocolates: you never know what you're going to come across". Each episode is surprising by its absurdity, its comic situations, its misunderstandings but especially its totally offbeat humor that hits the mark every time. Not to mention the credits composed by Dj Abdel.

A cast led by a trio of hell

The "H" in the series stands for hospital, but it can also stand for humor. And humor, that's in the series! A lot! And how to miss it with a trio like this: Jamel Debbouze as Jamel Dridi, Eric Judor as Aymé Césaire and finally Ramzy Bedia as Sabri Saîd. The three are inseparable on screen and offer an anthology of gags to the delight of the viewer. They have a lot of fun in front of the camera and it shows, because in several scenes, the actors have trouble laughing or hiding their smiles. Indeed, the naturalness of this series is also what makes its greatest charm Sabri, Aymé and JamelH trio Review "H" by Kader Aoun: The craziest hospital in France!

Plethora of guests present in the series

Carried by a high-flying cast, this series is not to be outdone in terms of guests. Almost all the French actors went to say hello in front of H's camera. We can mention: Bruno Solo, Pierre Palmade, Joey Starr or the striker and winner of the 98 football world cup: Thierry Henry. H managed to bring in top guests in his series.

Memorable replicas

"Don't tell me it's not true." If we had to boil down series H to a line, it would probably be this one. A gimmick pronounced by Jamel throughout the series and now cult for the entire 90 generation. We bet you've already said it in the funniest situations. Sabri is not left out either in terms of replicas. Between diversions of words that give a whole new meaning to the sentence like this: "Silence! Or I make the room ejaculate! " or his always inspired proverbs: "It is not the old monkey that we teach to build slugs". In short you understand, if you like this kind of humor, you can find a bunch of lines like these all funnier than the others. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oe3ziVvHdD8

An old format

If we have to find a flaw in the H series, it would be its format which, today, is quite old-fashioned. No one is future-proof and we notice it with H. Indeed, Sitcoms are not really fashionable anymore. Although it has been a very popular genre in the past, it was quickly overtaken by big-budget series.

The sets are the same (the hospital and the bar), laughter in boxes can annoy the spectator and the mechanism of "drawers", that is to say when a character leaves the field, another enters (as in the theater), can seem predictable when we understand the mechanism. That being said, the series is still enjoyable to watch.

Clearly, the H series : it's cult, it's French and it's funny. In addition, the series is carried by actors at the top of their form. And this is very easy to watch (the episodes are 22 minutes). Thanks to the Netflix platform, those born in the 2000s will be able to discover this masterpiece of humor. To discover: the releases of July on Netflix.
