500 days of joy and tears. That's kind of what happens in the life of Tom (played by Joseph Gordon Levitt) in (500) Days Together. While working in an agency creating greeting cards, he meets one day in the middle of a meeting Summer (Zooey Deschanel). From there begin his 500 days of love and hate. We will see how he will manage to be with this pretty brunette until the moment everything stops.

Colour and music: the perfect mix

Color is omnipresent in Marc Webb's film , (500) Days Together. Finally, one color is particularly so. The blue eyes of the main actress are found in all shades of the film. Indeed, many of the dresses worn by the actress are blue and even actors in the background wear shades of blue. Seeing him is easy especially in Tom's beautiful scene of joy after successfully kissing his beloved. In this same scene, the music You Make My Dreams Come True plunges us into the happiness of the young man until the moment when depression occurs. Of course, not everything is beautiful in this film and fortunately. This film is interesting because even if from the beginning a voice-over announces to the spectators that "this is not a love story", we would like to believe so much the two lovers go well together.

Tom vs. Summer: Two Ideals of Love

Through (500) days together, we can see two very different visions and contrary to the thoughts and clichés that we have, especially in this kind of films. Indeed, it is the man who is romantic, in love and thinks that love is at the center of his life. So when he starts to get depressed, the music calms down, and Hero is the perfect example. In addition, the direction becomes more static and we follow the adventures only through Tom's eyes and the camera follows him until making a small sequence shot when the main character goes to buy food and alcohol in the local grocery store. On the other hand, Summer is freer and does not believe in love.

At the cinema level, what can I say?

The way the film talks about the romantic relationship between a man and a woman is no different from what has been done before. But one of the interesting things is the ending which is totally open with the look that Tom offers to the viewer. In addition, we have the name of his new meeting that echoes the previous one: Autumn. Another masterstroke is this mise en abyme of the psychology of the character. We see the main actor caught in several scenes where he understands the melancholy and depression in which he finds himself.

In conclusion, it is not a masterpiece with novelties scripted or new staging but color, music and insolence allow you to have a good time going through different states.
