On May 13, God Is An Astronaut hypnotized the Trabendo. A captivating concert of rare intensity that the Parisian public will remember.

Plunged into darkness, we hear sounds, music, a sweet melody, the group gradually enters the stage. You can barely distinguish them, you can only see their silhouette and that's the only thing you'll see of them for almost two hours.

    God Is An Astronaut, powerful!

Leader of the Post Rock movement, God Is An Astronaut is the kind of band that manages to captivate its audience, without words and without stage play. Here no artifice, everything is in the music.

And this music is particularly emotionally powerful. From the first titles, the band manages to plunge us into the dark and captivating universe of Epitaph, their latest album. As in a whirlwind, we go from a sweet melody to saturated guitars; The sound envelops us and the lights spin to make us lose all bearings.

Mortal coil continues our vertiginous fall into the world of God Is An Astronaut. We already observe bodies oscillating and heads shaking depending on the speed of the drums or the violence of the guitars.

    A return to the roots

The group communicates little, but always with a soft and benevolent voice. Torsten is the only one to speak, he carries the voice of God Is An Astronaut. He announces a journey back in time to their first album to perform The End Of The Beginning. The fans of the first hour come alive!

On stage, the Kinsella brothers are focused, connected… There is an involvement in the songs they perform, an intensity on stage that overflows and invades the audience. We are seized in waves.

The titles follow one another, including several from the album All is violence, All is bright. Especially Forever Lost or Suicide By Star which creates enthusiasm in the Trabendo room.

And in the darkness, you will see the light…

But there is another detail that has its importance in this collective osmosis: the work of light that is remarkable and does much of the work to make the atmosphere of this concert unique and take everyone on a journey to the afterlife.

Each light serves wonderfully the titles it accompanies, creating scrolls, arcs, curves, grids … imprisoning musicians on stage. Sometimes we think we see the northern lights, we have the impression of being on a train, of being crossed by lightning … You hear a heart beating and you see veins appear. It's a real scenography that we are witnessing!

    GIAA

    Everything is visceral, almost organic.

We feel the music take possession of our guts and despite the enthusiasm that the audience shows at the end of each title, we feel that everyone is completely caught up in the music.

The band will play two more titles from their latest opus: Seance Room and Medea. They will also draw from their long discography to satisfy the whole public.

The concert goes by too quickly and it's already almost the end: Centralia from the album Helios/Herebus. The band quietly and quickly leaves the stage to return to the cheers of the Trabendo. He says he has one last title for us and leaves us with Helios/Herebus.

He thanks the Parisians for being so attentive and present tonight. Then he leaves the stage, for good this time, not without shaking a few hands. "Take care of yourself" will be their last message: words that fall at the right time with the events of the day before.

God Is An Astronaut live is a special moment and an extraordinary concert that is unlike any other. We can't talk about communion, because each person present seemed to escape a little in their own way, but there was this idea of going far away, escaping, letting something soft and strong emerge at the same time and that everyone was able to share with the group. To live at least once!
