December 18 was International Migrants Day. A good opportunity to immerse yourself in a work created by three talented artists, which is published by Hachette Comics. The comic is called Migrant and it is available since October 4 in all bookstores.

In the multitude of comics available, we can only recommend reading Migrant. This book deals with a topical subject since the International Organization for Migration revealed on June 9, 2017 that the shipwrecks of migrants to European shores had caused more than 1620 deaths or disappearances. A sad reality that shows us how well off we are (despite some difficulties) in our society.

At the conception of this project, we find Eoin Coffer, an internationally renowned author thanks to his series Artemis Fowl (in a much less realistic register). This author has been writing for young people since the 90s. Andrew Donkin accompanies him on the script. The two men were already collaborating on the comic book adaptation of Artemis Fowl.

To conclude this trio of shock, we find Giovani Rigano in the drawings. The Italian cartoonist was not destined for this profession since he began with scientific studies. Fortunately, he decided to completely change his path to integrate the Disney universe first.

A justified choice

The two authors have opted for such a theme in order to illustrate these statistics. The important thing was to show that there are human beings behind this revealed data. What better vector than comics?

The screenplay focuses on Ebo, a 12-year-old Nigerian boy. The child flees his daily life (wars, famines …) through a precarious boat.

A work that you can currently buy at Hachette Comics.
