Apple TV: The thriller Shining Girls with Elizabeth Moss opposite Jamie Bell

In the era of reboots and remakes, it is always a pleasure to discover original projects or adaptations of novels. Shining Girls is a series that will begin on April 29 on the platform. It is an adaptation of a novel by Lauren Beukes. It follows Kirby Mazrachi, an archivist for a Chicago newspaper, who suffered a particularly traumatic assault. She teams up with a competent journalist to discover the identity of this seemingly elusive serial killer. "He's everybody. He is nobody ," claims the main protagonist. Elizabeth Moss leads a real race against time in a well-conducted trailer that distills some catchy elements. The American actress chooses her roles well since after the successful series, The Handmaid's Tale: The Handmaid's Tale, she once again plays a strong woman in the grip of a terrible fight. The antagonist of the series is played by Jamie Bell, a role against employment for the actor? The first 3 episodes arrive on April 29 on Apple TV. Then, the broadcast continues at the rate of one episode per week. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KJn3Juk8MlU

American HBO series: The new series from the creators of The Wire

David Simon's name has resonated for many years in the world of series. Yes, we are talking about the creator of the series The Wire, this legendary work that plunged us into the streets of Baltimore 20 years ago. The artist returns with his friend Georges Pelecanos in the new HBO mini-series "We Own This City", available from April 26 on OCS. This duo of shock has no equal to best map the streets of American cities. The two friends were once journalists. More and more films and series deal with cases of corruption within the police force. In France, we had in 2021 the crime film Bac Nord. The plot of the American show comes from Justin Fenton's book "The city belongs to us", published in French on March 17 by Sonatine Editions. The pitch is hard-hitting, an incredible case of corruption and racketeering organized within an elite unit of the Baltimore police is exploited. Simon knows how to surround himself since he brings together Jon Bernthal ("The Punisher", "The Walking Dead"), Josh Charles ("The Circle of Missing Poets", "The Good Wife") or Jamie Hector, one of the heads of "The Wire". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HmS_glmjsRI The trailer for We Own this city is effective. Jon Bernthal is still charismatic, the pace is intense, the scenes realistic, it's hard not to drool with impatience…

Gaslit on Starzplay with a 4-star pair

Americans are still fond of realistic biopics. On April 24, the Gaslit series will focus on the couple of John and Martha Mitchell, attorney general during Richard Nixon's presidency. Sam Esmail, the man behind Mr Robot is producing. A guarantee of quality. In addition, Julia Roberts and Sean Penn play the Mitchell couple. Two actors with undeniable talent who are alone, reason enough to start the series. The show is based on the novel Slow Burn by journalist Leon Neyfakh. This creation dwells on never-revealed stories that took place during Watergate. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQ-uyTbsWJw&t=1s
