Last October, Netflix announced that it had commissioned the series 13 Reasons Why where Selena Gomez will executive produce and actress.
This series of 13 episodes is inspired by the book of the same name (Treize Raisons in French), published in 2007 and written by Jay Asher. Here is the summary of the novel:
Clay Jensen received thirteen tapes recorded by Hannah Baker before she committed suicide. She talks about thirteen people who are directly or indirectly involved in her life: friends or enemies, each of these people counted in her decision. Initially shocked, Clay listens to the tapes as he walks through the city; he lets himself be carried away by Hannah's voice: angry, happy, hurt and perhaps in love with him. It is a young girl more alive than ever that Clay discovers. A girl who tells him in his ear that life is in the details. A sentence, a smile, a wickedness or a kiss and everything can change…
Selena Gomez will play the role of Hannah and Kate Walsh will play her mother. Derek Luke (Empire, Snape) will play the role of Mr. Porter, the guidance counselor.
