Released in April 2020 and distributed on OCS in France, the Devils series is a thriller that reveals the backstage of finance. Divided into 10 episodes of 50 minutes, this series plunges us into a universe as scintillating as it is ruthless.

What's it about?

"Massimo Ruggiero is a brilliant trader at NYL, an American investment bank based in London. While he was in pole position to become Vice CEO, Massimo saw the position slip away from him in favour of another. Feeling abandoned by Dominic Morgan, his mentor, Massimo sets out to bring him down with the help of his team. He finds himself caught in the middle of a financial war that is jeopardising the European economy."

"The most beautiful trick of the devil is to persuade you that he does not exist." You've been warned. By taking up this famous quote, the Devils series sets its scene. Expect to see blood, conspiracies, low blows but also loyalty (a little). Devils stands out thanks to its historical realism. Indeed, the series takes place in 2008, in the heart of the subprime crisis and the Greek financial crisis. We discover a world of intrepid finance, cold in the image of London. City that serves as the setting for the series. The opposite of what Scorsese's supercharged film: The Wolf of Wall Street could demonstrate.

A strong cast

The strength of this series is largely due to its cast and the acting of its actors. Convincing in the role of Massimo Ruggiero, Italian actor Alessandro Borghi perfectly embodies the role of the young trader full of ambition. Sometimes ready to get his hands dirty to save his interests. In addition, we also find the famous "Doctor Mamour" of Grey's Anatomy : Patrick Dempsey! His on-screen role is that of Dominic Morgan, Massimo's veteran trader and mentor. Thanks to his charisma and his acting, he manages to interpret the role of the guide with perfection. devils 2 scaled Devils: the OCS series that takes us behind the scenes of finance!

An Italian series

European productions have been on the rise in recent years. The success of series such as La casa de papel, a Spanish series or Dark, a German series, have proved that Europe can release very good series. The goal: to overthrow the hegemony of American series that has lasted for a very long time. And that, VOD services have understood it well by betting on small series like Devils. In summary, Devils offers a rather obscure vision of finance. Short and effective, this Italian production holds the road, carried by a very talented cast. A review of the series will arrive shortly. In the meantime, you can check out the trailer.
