Fiona Monbet reveals her talents as a violinist. Didider Lockwood's pupil follows in the footsteps of his master with Contraband.

Fiona Monbet seduces us on an album between jazz and classical that highlights the musical interactions of the game in quartet.

Five years after O'Ceol, which marked her recording debut, Fiona Monbet goes up a notch with a mastered record that sees her violin visit Ireland (her second home), Brazil with AC Jobim, and cover Gershwin. Accompanied by a trio commensurate with her virtuosity, Fiona Monbet shows that she knows how to play everything, with lyricism, without blushing, also fading away to let the music breathe. At her side, she has chosen a trio with equally multiple influences: guitarist Antoine Boyer is dominated by classical and jazz, double bassist Damien Varaillon, is firmly anchored to jazz, while accordionist Pierre Cussac evolves at the borders of classical, traditional and improvised music.

An excerpt from the album, the title Waltz:

Fiona Monbet also signs compositions to the tune of immediate classics such as Valse which opens the album, or L'aveu which ends it on a poignant note. This piece is dedicated to Didier Lockwood, Fiona Monbet's mentor who left too early this year. His music may be demanding and virtuoso, but it is no less easy to access and invigorating. The best proof of this is the loyalty of the growing audience who closely follows Fiona's stage appearances, and who will be able to see her on November 24 at the Café de la Danse in Paris. As for the question of whether it is jazz, world music or classical music, it remains open. " It's improvised and acoustic chamber music ," ventures Fiona Monbet.

The release of Contraband is on 26/10/2018 at Crescendo / Caroline France Fiona will be in concert on November 24, 2018 at the Café de la Danse Reservations
