Ariana Vafaradi, mezzo-soprano from the world of classical music, unveils Anahita on the Quart de Lune label. An album inspired by the poems of the philosopher Zarathustra and the Zoroaster religion. A spectacular record, of pure beauty, between East and West. Ariana Vafadari offers us an extraordinary album and out of the usual formats. At the crossroads of contemporary music, jazz and oriental music, this singer with a powerful and lyrical voice takes us into a magical world. Listening to Anahita gives the impression of levitating… A wonderful moment that we invite you to discover. To compose it, the Franco-Iranian singer was inspired by the millennial texts of poetry from her native country. Zoroastrianism is a religion born on the territory of present-day Iran. It takes its name from its "prophet" or founder Zarathustra, whose name was transcribed into Zoroaster by the Greeks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eo1zQBHZA8Y

A mystical album

Anahita tells us the story of the goddess of waters, fertility, peoples and the living. This dreamlike tale features a young woman who, devastated in front of her barren landscape, prays to the goddess whose name she bears to revive her world. This musical creation has already been presented on stage, among others at the Musée du Quai Branly in March 2020, with the participation of actress Fanny Ardant in the role of Anahita. On this last album, the singer surrounded herself with musicians from various backgrounds. We find Julien Carton on piano and arrangements, Driss El Maloumi on ud, Leïla Soldevila on bass, and Habib Meftah Boushehri on percussion. Mystical, but also poignant, the album takes us into an ageless world to meet our perceptions. An indoor dive that is worth the detour.
