For the 12th consecutive year, publicis cinéma will host the Korean Film Festival in Paris at the end of October. On this occasion, we wanted to present you the festival in question as well as the films and directors highlighted during this edition.
Who do we meet?
Between October 24 and 31 will take place the Korean Film Festival in Paris which we have the chance and honor to be able to attend. The latter is known for highlighting rising personalities or already anchored in the world of Korean cinema. This year is no exception, many directors and actors will present their films. Jang Hoon, director of the festival's opening film, A Taxi Driver, will be present. Of course, the director Cho Hyun-Hoo highlighted in the portrait section of the festival will make the trip to Paris as well. Also present will be the directors and main actors of I Can Speak as well as those of Jamsil.
What do we see?
On this year's program, feature and short films ranging from comedy to horror through drama, action or documentary.
To open the festival, Hoon Jang's A Taxi Driver will be broadcast, in which a German journalist and a taxi driver will travel to Gwangju where clashes between the army and the population are taking place.
Two films will be premiered: Hong Sang-so's Claire's Camera and Ryoo Seung-wan's The Battleship Island.
The event and landscape sections of the festival will offer us a wide variety of themes and genres with documentaries, action, drama or comedies that can take place 400 years ago as today.
The portrait section aims this year to highlight Cho Hyun-hoon's work by screening his feature film Jane as well as two of his short films.
In addition, during this new edition, the Focus category will focus on the return of the 80s in front of the cameras twenty years later.
Also on the program are "The Classics", a selection of cult comedies of Korean cinema.
Then comes the Shortcuts section, divided into three screenings of six or seven short films bringing together all film genres.
Finally, the festival will be closed by The Mimic by Huh Jong in which a woman will witness strange events following the disappearance of her son.
