Avengers Endgame: What does Hawkeye's new look mean?

Yesterday came the highly anticipated trailer for Avengers 4, soberly titled Endgame (as some theories predicted). If it revealed only a few things of the plot, one element struck many viewers: the new look of Hawkeye (if we can still call it that).

Indeed, it seems that it is now necessary to call Clint Barton by the code name Ronin. This theory had already been made for a while concerning the return of this character. Here it is almost confirmed by this impactful visual of Barton wearing a katana, overlooking several corpses still warm. First appearing in the comics in 2005, Ronin is a code name given to two characters from the Marvel universe, including Clint Barton himself after several adventures (including a "death" and a resurrection).

But then, why this change of pseudonym for his return? The reason seems simple: the death of his wife and children. It's a safe bet that his entire idyllic family (featured in Avengers – Age of Ultron) did not survive the deadly finger snap of the giant Thanos. The latter would then take the path of revenge, adopting at the same time a new identity darker than the one used under the orders of the S.H.I.E.L.D. If this is the case, Thanos just has to behave, because Barton is surely not the only one who wants to avenge the disappearance of his loved ones.

Perhaps we will have some elements of answer in the next trailers, unless it is confirmed only in cinemas in 2019. So all you have to do is be patient and wait until April 24th! In the meantime, (re)discover without further delay the first trailer of Avengers Endgame
