New Nvidia driver improves Battlefield V ray-tracing

Shortly after the release of the new Battlefield set during World War II, Nvidia launched a new GeForce driver. Its goal is to improve the performance of Ray-Tracing in the introductory chapter of Battlefield V's Wars Stories.

Ray-Tracing aims to copy the physical phenomena of light (play of light, reflections, shadows, diffractions of rays, etc.) in the most faithful way possible. With 417.22 drivers, as well as with the game update, performance will be increased by 50%, for players with RTX cards. Thus the 60FPS in 1440p with the DXR in Ultra will be reached with an RTX 2080 Ti. The 60FPS in 1440p with a DXR in average quality will be available for those with an RTX 2070. Finally, 60FPS in 1080p with DXR in average quality are possible for gamers with an RTX 2070.

After all its figures, concretely, the developers announced that the following improvements have been made:

  • Improved stability when running the game with DXR Ray-Tracing enabled.
  • Improved performance of several components of the Ray-Tracing implementation.
  • Improved Ray-Tracing between foliage and vegetation.
  • Use of frame buffer data, where appropriate, to improve the overall quality of Ray-Tracing.
  • Remove inactive geometry from drawn ray scenes.
  • The fixed average quality setting does not apply correctly.
