Beauregard Festival: Day 1

Return to the Château as every year. Social dinner and dance ball? No, at the Château de Beauregard, we are much more inclined to attend concerts of all kinds. It is therefore in Hérouville Saint-Clair (14) that takes place as every first weekend of July, the Beauregard Festival.

This Friday, July 1 was not really the first day of the Festival for everyone, some having indeed seen the day before Les Insus, partial reformation of Telephone. For 3 years now, the Festival organizes a Before, where is invited a famous group: Stromae and Scorpions had lent themselves to the game in previous years. Just Focus is not present for this Before, we will get an idea of the concert of the Insus thanks to the reactions of 2 festival-goers, Mathieu and Eva, who both say they loved it.

But let's go back to this first real day of Festival, this Friday, July 1, 2016. The day was off to a bad start. The weather seemed to be making its own: the Norman rain foreshadowed a complicated edition.Added to this was an incident on the Caen bus network, which prevented access to the Festival under the blows of 18h. This is how Brian Jonestown Massacre escaped the ears of Just Focus.

    Nekfeu

    Nekfeu
Around 20h, all these problems were forgotten and it was under a beautiful sun that we attended the show of Nekfeu. We can like or dislike the rapper but we are still forced to admit that the atmosphere was there. Real interaction with the public, throwing a balloon, confetti, diving into the audience aboard an inflatable boat, all elements that guaranteed a beautiful moment for fans of the former member of 1995.

    Beck

So we headed back to the Beauregard stage to attend Beck's concert. The Californian offered us a rich music. Handling all musical languages, from folk to rap to rock or funk, Beck delivered music that spoke to everyone, regardless of age and passion.

    Ghinzu

    Ghinzu

The Belgian group promised to be one of the assets of the evening. It far exceeded this goal and proved to be an excellent surprise of the evening. From the first notes, one can't help but think of Cure. The beginning, rather calm, prepares a sequel that will prove masterful. The group shows a galvanizing energy. Thus, the music of Ghinzu pleases everyone: between melancholic rock and dynamic rock, forty-year-olds and twenty-somethings meet there.

    The Chemical Brothers

    Chemical Brothers

The English duo began their show with the famous "Hey boy, Hey girls". At that time, it is still impossible to foresee what will happen next. We can only let ourselves be carried away by the rhythm of the bass and the repetitions of the few phrases of the song. Unsurprisingly, we have a good time. Human silhouettes appear, we like to watch the visual game. Little by little, the titles will follow one another and we will understand the real potential of the group. More than just an invitation to dance, it is truly a kind of trance in which the group will plunge us. We find ourselves losing control of our body, like the bodies we see on the screen. The visual performance serving the sound performance, the work on the bodies and faces sublimates the music of the representatives of the Big Beat, this current dear to The Prodigy or Fatboy Slim. It is then impossible for any fan of electro of the 90s not to succumb to the creative alchemy of the two friends. Two massive robots then burst in (without really knowing how they could appear, musical trance obliges) and conclude a show that turned out to be fabulous.

    The Shoes

    Capture

The electronic machine is launched and it is an evening under the sign of the turntables that is announced. After The Chemical Brothers, it is The Shoes that delights our ears. The duo, French this time, delivers a performance very different from the previous ones, but just as interesting. We find the influences of the Chemical Brothers, which is not a coincidence since The Shoes appreciates the English to the point of naming their latest album Chemicals. We particularly appreciate the offbeat tone of the visuals, different images from the Internet succeeding each other. The humor is also found in some kind of private jokes on the part of the group, which it would be difficult to explain here. Different influences are found in the band's music, some passages almost evoking hardtek, others closer to dance, with at times quieter songs.

    Rone

The evening concludes with Rone. His music is an invitation to hover and travel. Far from the frenetic bass of the two previous groups, he makes us enter his dreamlike universe. Transformed into a visitor, we let ourselves be tamed like a being foreign to a world but eager to know it. It is therefore a last journey that we begin before the much more real and laborious one, which will take us back to the cozy cocoon of our bed.

See you tomorrow for the 2nd day of the Beauregard Festival!
