John Milk is back with an EP full of vintage soul, sensual funk as we like. Check out Don't Blame The Hammer on Justfocus. A new sound nugget from Underdog Records. John Milk unveils a new EP, transforming the success of his two albums into an effective and impactful recipe, with this hint of hip-hop modernizing soul brilliantly. Singer and producer in full rise within the neo-soul scene hexagonal, John Milk had revealed himself from his first album, "Treat Me Right", released three years ago. Critical success of a Lyon producer, former boss of Ka Records, who is now flying to new horizons, drawing on his heritage in the synths of Stevie Wonder or Prince, and the vocal art of Curtis Mayfield. Working on old-fashioned tapes for the warmth and grain of the recording, while bringing the modern techniques of beatmaking, Milk builds his sensory patchwork where groove is the only watchword. John Milk - Don't Blame The Hammer [Official Video]Skilled in instrumentation as in lyrics, between personal reflections and commitments to the violence of this world, John Milk cultivates above all a joie de vivre, with his neo-soul hybridizing with the energies of hip-hop and funk. His machines distill a musicality between two eras, operating the passage between old school gimmicks and modern appropriations, with a certain talent for cleverly orchestrated hip-hop prods, which offers him nuance compared to other artists in the same vein, such as Jamie Lidell. Listening to the EP, you will also enjoy the remixes inspired by Blanka (La Fine Equipe) and Patchworks (Mr President, Joa Selva) taking the flagship track Don't Blame The Hammer sometimes to Spanish Harlem and sometimes to Brooklyn.
