Universal Cable Productions will develop an anthology series based on the works of renowned filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock, Welcome to Hitchcock. The series will be inspired not only by his films, but especially by the original series of filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock presents.

Alfred Hitchcock is recognized today as one of the greatest filmmakers of all time, with films such as The Birds and Psycho. But it is especially his television series, grouped under the name Alfred HitchcockAlfred Hitchcock presents, that made him known to the general public. Broadcast in the 1950s and 1960s, seven seasons of shuddering stories were introduced by the master filmmaker in sometimes incongruous circumstances and concluded by a moral addressed directly to the viewer, as a warning.

Welcome to Hitchcock should be somewhat different, however. Rather inspired by the success of the American Horror Story series, Universal Studios will focus instead on one mystery per season, and no longer one mystery per episode. We necessarily expect macabre, thrilling and, we hope, a lot of suspense! But why resume an already awfully cult series you may ask? Dwan Olmstead, Executive Vice President of Universal Cable Productions, responds:

"Long after his death, Hitchcock continues to be one of the world's most famous and visionary directors, a master of manipulation and the macabre. We are honored that his heirs have placed their trust in us to pay tribute to his work."

There is currently not a lot of information about the actual content of the series. Several directors will be solicited for the creation of this series to pay tribute to the genius of the filmmaker, but it is not really known who will be there. We only know that the pilot episode (and maybe even other episodes) will be directed by none other than Chris Columbus, director of the first two parts of the Harry Potter saga. Welcome to Hitchcock will be produced by 1492 Pictures/Ocean Blue Entertainment and Vermilion Entertainment, as well as Alfred Hitchcock's family.

No channel and no date have yet been announced for its broadcast, but it is hoped that Universal can produce a series worthy of Hitchcock's cult achievements.
