We first heard about Mark Boal's Paramount thriller, Triple Frontier, in 2009. Until today, several names of stars had been mentioned (Tom Hanks, Johnny Depp, Leonardo DiCaprio) and the film had been assigned a director different from what was originally planned. Finally, it seems that the project is well on its way to progress.

According to Variety, Tom Hardy and Channing Tatum are in negotiations to play in the thriller, although no agreement has yet been signed and some scheduling problems are already arising. We don't yet have any details on the roles that the two actors could play. Indeed, despite the long development phase of the film, very little information about the script has been revealed. We only know that the title refers to the border between Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil, where the Paraná and Iguazú rivers meet, forming a haven for organized crime.

Initially targeted by the duo Kathryn Bigelow and Mark Boal (director and screenwriter of Zero Dark Thirty in particular), Triple Frontier passed from hand to hand, until landing in those of J.C. Chandor, the director of Margin Call, All Is Lost and most recently A Most Violent Year. Mark Boal wrote the script for Triple Frontier, but his partner will not be in charge of directing, the duo having committed to other projects in the meantime. It is hoped that negotiations with Tom Hardy and Channing Tatum will lead to an agreement and that the film will finally see the light of day.

Until then, we can find Tom Hardy in Dunkirk by Christopher Nolan, Fonzo by Josh Trank (biopic by Al Capone) and of course in the series Taboo (non-exhaustive selection). As for Channing Tatum, he will play among others in the thriller Logan Lucky by Stephen Soderbergh and in the new Kingsman, directed by Matthew Vaughn.
