While Barack Obama is about to give way to his successor Donald Trump, Netflix has just released the trailer of the film centered on the outgoing President of the United States.

"Barry," written by Adam Mansbach and directed by Vikram Gandhi, will focus on Obama's first year of study at Columbia University in 1981.
According to this trailer and the first reactions since the presentation of the film at the Toronto Film Festival 2016, the look at the life of the future President would be rather nuanced. We are facing an accessible, very human protagonist. A student like the others finally, who must face the problems specific to this period of life. The question of his origins is also addressed and seems to have caused him a number of difficulties. This trailer promises us an intelligent film, which encourages us to think, while being entertaining.

The lead role has been given to Australian Devon Terrell, who will be surrounded by Ashley Judd ("Divergent"), Jenna Elfman ("Sex Between Friends") as well as the very promising Anya Taylor-Joy ("The Witch"), Jason Mitchell ("Straight Outta Compton") and Ellar Coltrane ("Boyhood").

The film will be released exclusively on Netflix on December 16, 2016.

    Here is the official synopsis:

"A young Barack Obama, nicknamed "Barry" by his friends, arrived in New York in the fall of 1981 to begin his first year of studies at Columbia University. In an environment plagued by crime and racial prejudice, Barry finds himself torn between different social spheres. He struggles to maintain increasingly strained relationships with his Kansas-born mother, Kenyan father and classmates. Barry is the story of a young man who struggles with the same problems that his country, and arguably the world, have still failed to overcome. »
