Like other current home consoles, the Nintendo Swicth online service will be paid. Announced during the announcement of the console, the Japanese firm had still detailed that the service would really be in place only during the year 2018.

Finally it was during a Nintendo Direct that the month of September was determined. But until recently, we didn't know what the online service would have in store for us in terms of features outside of dedicated servers to play around the world.Today it is done since several points are clarified!

    1/ The price of Online

The subscription to the online service was indicated in dollars at the time, cheaper than Microsoft or Sony consoles, but we were not sure that the conversion from the dollar to the euro would change the situation:

    • Individual subscriptions:
    • One month (30 days): €3.99
    • Three months (90 days): €7.99
    • 12 months (365 days): €19.99
    • Family subscription (12 months / 365 days): €34.99

As you can see, the subscription is therefore decreasing (the more you commit over a long period of time, the less the price is important per month), while a subscription for families comes into play. It can be linked to up to 8 Nintendo accounts even on different consoles.

    2/ The data backup cloud

Since launch until now, your data saves were always saved on your Nintendo Switch, whether you have a microSD card or not. With the cloud, it is the possibility to secure your data in case of a glitch.

3/Nintendo Entertainment System – Nintendo Switch Online

Subscribers will be treated to a compilation of great NES classics. Starting with 20 games, the collection will regularly host new titles. At launch, the games Balloon Fight, Dr . Mario and Super Mario Bros. 3, already announced, will be joined by Donkey Kong, Ice Climber, The Legend of Zelda, Mario Bros., Soccer, Super Mario Bros., Tennis as well as 10 other classics that will be unveiled soon. And for the first time, players will be able to enjoy these titles online. Depending on the game, it will be possible to play multiplayer modes in competition or cooperative, or to take control in turn. Friends will even be able to watch each other play solo games online and "pass the controller" at any time. All classic NES games will support voice chat via the Nintendo Switch Online smartphone app. It will also be possible to play these titles offline.

    4/ NintendoSwitch Online application

Withvarious features including voice chat, the Nintendo Switch Online smartphone app can be used to enhance the online gaming experience in compatible games.

    5/ Online gambling

No, we had not forgotten it, since obviously the online subscription will be above all to be able to play online whether in co-operation or competition. Note that the online subscription will allow you to play on many (made in Nintendo among others), but that some games will be available online without this subscription, so you will have to inquire on a case-by-case basis.

    Online Benefits

With this announcement, we see more clearly in the offer that Nintendo offers with its online subscription. The cloud finally arrives on the console, which will secure its backups, nevertheless the question arises on the virtual console which was expected by many and which seems not to be integrated for the moment. In any case, we hope for a real high-performance infrastructure with the end of the free period, because even today the servers suffer a lot with games such as Splatoon 2 or Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. With Nintendo wanting to double its console fleet by the end of the fiscal year and the arrival of games like Smash Bros, they have every interest in putting the means to bring a real online experience if they want to stay the course!
