Test: Leaving Lyndow, a short but pretty walking simulator

Leaving Lyndow is a walking simulator in which we play Clara, a young explorer (and not Dora) who must go on a 3-year trip. She will have to say goodbye to all her friends but also to her family and enemies. On the menu of this fantastic day, we have to pack our bags, go talk to family members in different places on the island but also spend time with his future crew. Through mini games, we will learn more about this trip and Clara's reasons for leaving her sweet home to follow her father's example. Leaving Lyndow-1 Don't expect many hours of play, Leaving Lyndow is above all a way to finance a more ambitious game and showcase the talent of the development team. We will play it at most one or two hours the time to explore everything and have discussed with everyone. We do not move freely on the island and we are limited to certain areas in which we will chat with characters and where we will play nice little games such as finding a melody, playing basketball or finding lost effigies. So we go around very quickly and we wonder what will happen next, the sequel to the next episode basically! Leaving Lyndow-2

    You're talkin' to me?

The game is beautiful with very beautiful scenery and beautiful landscapes. A big effort has been made on the optimization of the game, it runs perfectly on a suitable machine. We explore this singular universe in the first person and we move as in any self-respecting FPS. You can not jump as in many walking simulators which avoids being stuck in incongruous places. The game is in French which facilitates the understanding of the story and demonstrates that the developers see beyond the simple technical demonstration. The level of French is also excellent which is rare enough to report it. We can therefore interact with objects and use them with others. However, objects cannot be directly combined with each other as in a point and click. Leaving Lyndow-3 So you have to find the solution to the mini-games, talk to everyone and write your own story through a multiple choice dialogue system. It is well thought out and rather practical in the grip, you can do everything with the mouse or use the keyboard to make your choice. It will not be possible to change places until you have completed all the prerequisites to go out. It will therefore be necessary to solve a riddle and use all the objects provided for this purpose. It's not very complicated, especially since the game shows us the solution after a while, so we can not be frustrated.

And in the middle flows an ocean.

Leaving Lyndow is very beautiful, that's obvious. His sound realization is not to be outdone with beautiful music and some well rendered effects. Not enough to jump to the ceiling but the result is nice. The game is not free of bugs, I was expelled into the stratosphere once or twice following a problem with the management of physics on a rock. The game did not crash but the result is rather comical. I also had other more serious issues with version itch.io but the developer was very responsive and fixed the bug immediately. It's nice to see such a quick and efficient follow-up. So you may have some bugs but the game is quickly updated. Leaving Lyndow Leaving Lyndow is an interesting experience with its share of good surprises and superb realization. As indicated in its description, it is an excellent introduction to a universe that we hope will be more varied and especially longer. It also makes it possible to finance the sequel which could be reminiscent of a paid demo but it is not. I played walking simulators less well done and less interesting for much more expensive. If you like peaceful atmospheres and short video game experiences, I advise you to buy this game either on Steam with these achievements or on itch.io to get a DRM-free copy. It's up to you!
