The great Star Trek franchise celebrates its fiftieth anniversary this year. The franchise on television has been absent since 2005, when Star Trek: Enterprise was discontinued. A new series, Star Trek Discovery, is scheduled for release in 2017 and Michelle Yeoh is the first actress to join the cast.
Originally scheduled to air on CBS All Access in January 2017, the Star Trek: Discovery series is expected to start in April 2017. Netflix will air the series globally the day after the U.S. broadcast.
It's high time to start discovering the crew of this new series in the franchise and we now know the first member. Actress Michelle Yeoh has just signed to appear in the series. Logically, we can think that she will be the captain of the ship even if nothing is official for the moment.
Filming for the series is expected to begin in December, so we should have more cast additions very soon. Michelle Yeoh is known here for her roles in the films Tomorrow Never Dies and Tiger and Dragon, but also for her participation in the series Marco Polo or Strike Back.
The upcoming Star Trek: Discovery series is expected on CBS All Access and Netflix starting in April 2017.
