While we have been hearing about it for several years, the American channel Showtime has just officially ordered a series adapted from the 1980 film, which starred Richard Gere, American Gigolo.

If you don't know Paul Schrader 's 1980 film, it told us the story of Julian Kay (Richard Gere), a handsome dark man in his thirties, who praises his charms to women in need. After spending the night with the wife of a businessman, she is found dead and the suspicions of the police naturally fall on Julian. The murder seems to be a trumped-up to incriminate him and Julian is determined to prove it.

The idea of adapting this film into a series is not new, but it is now official, since the American channel Showtime has just ordered a first season.

This new series will be produced by Jerry Bruckheimer (the Pirates of the Caribbean saga) and Neil LaBute, under the supervision of the director and writer of the time. The plot of the series will be transposed to our time.

Note that this is not the only film adaptation in which Jerry Bruckheimer will participate, since we told you some time ago about that of the film Enemy of State, for the ABC channel.
