After more than ten years of operation, the next season of the cult American series The Big Bang Theory will be the last.

12 seasons, 279 episodes: a record!

It is now official, the series will bid farewell at the end of the final season 12, in 2019. In a statement, Warner Bros. Studios, CBS and show creator Chuck Lorre said: "We are always grateful to our fans for their support over the past twelve seasons. We, along with the cast, writers and crew members, are extremely grateful for the success of the series and hope to deliver a final season and series finale that will give The Big Bang Theory a creative and epic ending."

The Big Bang Theory tells the story of Sheldon Cooper, a gifted theoretical physicist with an IQ of 187, his roommate Leonard Hofstadter, and his group of scientific friends. According to the site EW, it is the departure of Jim Parsons, who has portrayed the character of Sheldon for 10 years, which would have upset the events, declining the offer of $ 50 million per year for two more seasons. The production of The Big Bang Theory, believing that the series was no longer without this indispensable protagonist, decided to end the program.

It has been for years the most followed comedy on American television, but also the longest since it accumulates 279 episodes. The Big Bang Theory has been a long-term and remains one of the most coveted series even today, achieving unbeatable audience figures. Since its first steps in 2007, the series has 52 nominations at the famous Emmy Awards, for 10 trophies received.

September 24 will indeed be the beginning of the end of the history of the cult series, which will bow out in May 2019. For now discover the trailer of the previous season.
