Whovians is a thunderbolt for all fans of the legendary Doctor Who. Yes, after several years of loyal service, we learned that Steven Moffat, one of the best current showrunners, would officially leave the show after season 10.Even if this information is not new, the need for it to be formalized heralds a turning point for the future. Who would be able to replace him?

As an excellent orchestra master, we suspected that Steven Moffat could not leave the production of the series without having found a replacement who would be able to maintain the level of quality of the show. Carried by a gala Peter Capaldi and well-conducted plots, season 9 of Doctor Who was a real success. The time traveler was taken to interesting plots and unveiled a new aspect of his personality compared to his previous incarnations.

The one who will take over is Chris Chibnall, the showrunner of Broadchurch and who is, we assure you, a long-time fan of the series Doctor Who. He spoke about the series:

"Doctor Who is the BBC's ultimate programme: unique and adored around the world. It is a privilege and a great joy to be the next showrunner of the series. I've loved Doctor Who since I was 4 years old and I'm relishing the idea of creating new characters, creatures and worlds to explore with the BBC team in Wales.Steven has achieved the impossible by continuing to make the show creative and increasing its popularity around the world. He's an exceptional showrunner and hearing his plans for 2017, he's going to leave with a bang. Just to make my life difficult."

Here are some very reassuring words for fans of the show. Season 10 of Doctor Who, the last directed by Steven Moffat arrives in the summer of 2017.
