Following Disney's acquisition of Twentieth Century Fox, X-Men: Dark Phoenix wasn't sure if it would see the light of day. Fortunately the film worn by Sophie Turner (Game of Thrones) will be released with a little delay on February 14, 2019.
The postponement of the last film in the X-Men franchise is synonymous with a reshuffle of scenario and therefore reshoots. The shooting of Simon Kinberg's film (partly at the origin of the scripts of several films of the franchise) has just resumed a few days ago on the side of Montreal in Canada. The opportunity to find Sophie Turner, aka Jean Grey / Phoenix in a motion capture outfit that gives the answer to Jessica Chastain (chosen to play the alien princess Lilandra). Also dressed in a gray jumpsuit and apparently trying to prey on the mutant!
Completed last October, the filming of X-Men: Dark Phoenix took place discreetly. No stolen behind-the-scenes photo had so far appeared on the web… It is now done with this cliché for the least interesting! We discover indeed the new costume worn by our dear band of mutants. A new look that seems to be directly inspired by the costumes of Grant Morrison's New X-Men comic book series. With its big yellow "X" on the chest, a more classic design that should delight fans!
Set ten years after X-Men: Apocalypse, X-Men: Dark Phoenix features mutants who have become national heroes, with Professor Xavier even appearing on the cover of Time magazine. His pride having swelled, he sends his team on increasingly dangerous missions. But this energy awakens an evil force in Jean Grey.
More drama and less action, Jenifer Lawrence said last December:
"There are some really good action scenes in the film. From the first minutes we are in space. It's quite exciting, there's a deepening of the emotions of the characters never seen in other movies."
For the cast of X-Men Dark Phoenix we will find James McAvoy (Charles Xavier / Professor X), Michael Fassbender (Erik Lehnsherr / Magneto). But also Jennifer Lawrence (Raven Darkhölme/Mystique), Nicholas Hoult (Hank McCoy/the Beast), Sophie Turner (Jean Grey). Tye Sheridan (Scott Summers/Cyclops), Alexandra Shipp (Ororo Munroe/Tornado). Kodi Smit-McPhee (Kurt Wagner/Diablo) or Evan Peters (Peter Maximoff/Quicksilver).
