Bertrand Bonello is the director of L'Apollonide, a period film, or one of the two biopics devoted to the life of the great French couturier, Yves Saint-Laurent. His filmography is not limited to these two films, but they are the best known to the general public. His next film, Nocturama, will hit theaters on August 31.

    An ultra-contemporary film

After tackling a romantic period during the making of the Appollonides, the filmmaker wanted to return to a contemporary film. Nocturama is basically the title of an album by Nick Cave. Bonello asked him for permission to use this title. The artist explained that the word referred to in a zoo, the area created specifically for nocturnal animals. A relevant definition for the director since Nocturama also refers to the idea of nightmare.

The film Nocturama is such a feeling in relation to today's society. Paris is filmed realistically… As for the cast, we find the excellent Finnegan Oldfield, excellent in the Cowboys (alongside François Damiens). Half of the cast knows with Nocturama its first steps in the world of cinema.

Synopsis: Paris, one morning. A handful of young people, from different backgrounds. Each on their own, they begin a strange ballet in the maze of the metro and the streets of the capital.  They seem to be following a plan. Their gestures are precise, almost dangerous. They converge on the same point, a department store, as it closes. The night begins.
