The series is set at Coal Hill Academy, a fictional school that has been featured regularly on Doctor Who since the show's inception in 1963, and will focus on six of its students and staff, including Mr Armitage, a character from the eighth season of Doctor Who. The six students at Coal Hill Academy all have their own secrets and desires. They have to deal with the constraints of everyday life, including friends, relatives, schoolwork, sex, and pain, but also the horrors that come from time travel. The doctor and his desire to travel have exceeded the imagination of the students on space and time. The aliens who came to Earth want to colonize and destroy it.

Like any self-respecting Doctor Who spin-off series, the starting pitch is very attractive. Especially when the producers announced the presence of Mr. Peter Capaldi in the first episode, to ensure consistency to the universe.there_s_a_second_trailer_for_doctor_who_spin_off_class_and_it_s_full_of_blood__snogging_and_buffy

Class is positioned above all as a metaphor for today's adolescence. The heroes of the series, Ram (Fady Elsayed), April (Sophie Hopkins), Tanya (Vivian Oparah) and Charlie (Greg Austin), are at a point where emotions, childhood and adolescence intertwine. We discover their universe, high school, teachers… And as if that wasn't enough, we might as well add extraterrestrials! We all know it's good at any time! And the Shadowkins are particularly scary and will not leave only good memories for our young heroes. Isn't it, Ram ?

A real pleasure to meet Peter Capaldi who we miss. It is inserted into the series in a beautiful way. This is where we see that the writers of Class know the subject, as the universe developed fits perfectly with that of the mother series. For tonight, we might die is a brilliant and very successful episode, which makes us want only one thing: see more!

And we continue with the second episode, The coach with the dragon tattoo. We take the time to discover the characters, and we come back to the events of the first episode and its consequences, especially those concerning Ram. We also explore the relationship between Charlie and Miss Quill (Katherine Kelly), which should give nice scenes in the future. We feel the willingness of the writers to dig into the characters and make them face their deepest fears, as well as the traumas related to the changes. An episode that has a separate universe from the first, heavier and darker, but that allows us to better understand certain things and situations. class-episode-2-promo-pics-29

In summary, these first two episodes of Class are close to perfection, like Torchwood in its time. This mix of science fiction sprinkled with adolescent period, allows Patrick Ness, the creator, to deliver us an endearing beginning of series and above all, which makes you want to discover more. The actors are not slapstickers, and we feel a desire to be taken seriously. There are 6 episodes left to dig into the subject and not disappoint. In view of the first two, it would really take a disaster for this to be the case! Despite the appearance of the Doctor in the first episode, we already know that the series flew away without him, which is rather a good omen!
