As the second day of the Macki Music Festival begins, the organizers can thank heaven. The torrential rains and greyness of the weekend gave way to the sun. Everyone was clearly not aware of this reversal of situation: boots and wax dress the crowd. Fortunately the line for glitter is endless and faces and beards are adorned with gilding and stickers. Ready for the party?
We thank cider for existing, ideal drink for lunch outings. Let's get things off to a slow start.
Concerts begin. While the electro scene has been rumbling since 3pm with Chineur de Paname, Kodama launches at 4pm in a jazzy electro sound sublimated by the voice of Kiala (Sino-Congolese) which reminds us of the vibrant one of Erykah Badu. The other part of the duo is T-time, its bassist. You can feel the Japanese influences in the music as well as the experimental and soul groove side.
While the sun is clearly starting to heat up, Bruno aka Strangelove has already gathered the majority of the Mackisards: he offers a flawless set. This DJ and producer from Lyon mixed two hours of electro disco-funk as we like to get in shape: we thank him for giving us so much good humor on a Sunday.
At the turn of an alcoholic sorbet and vinyl hunting, Buvette allows us a more chilly moment, on the main stage. These newcomers from Pan European Recordings, are a hit at the moment. They were at the Bateau Music Festival the previous weekend.
Los Wembler's de Iquitos are surprising: five Peruvians of small sizes wearing colorful jerseys: these pioneers of Amazonian cumbia and Peruvian shisha are on tour in Europe after 25 years of absence. The Sanchez brothers give the LA, the sun beats and they manage to make us travel.
Rendez-vous is a crazy band discovered last year at the Pete the Monkey Festival. By listening to our classics -like New Order- we had forgotten that it was possible to find French cold-wave bands. This quartet has existed for only four years and has already done no less than 80 concerts in Europe in recent years: electro new-wave atmosphere and brutal voices. We love.
It is near the lake and pedal boats that the friends of the Camion Bazar officiate: under a tree, it sets the country tone. They bring a kitsch charm to the place, crazy combinations and totem adorned with plush toys. And above all they are not cold in the eyes: they offer five hours of sound, inviting as usual DJs to come and relay them like Olga Maximova and Vincent de Malherbe -co-founder of Utopie Tangible. At 8pm it's fire in front of the stage, the whole band is celebrating Romain Play's birthday.
On stage 2, the afternoon is house-techno with Mall Grab and Mézique. The neon-clad trees set the pace and the crowd is as compact as ever. Renart, a small protégé of Cracki at his beginnings but now producer and representative of the techno scene, brings a very dark sound see hypnotic.
It's already time to go home, we almost forgot that it's Sunday night… Back on foot on the banks of the Seine, the city of Carrière sur Seine is peaceful, the pink sky would almost give us the illusion that we are already in the early morning. We'll be standing there next year.
Bet held, the Macki will have sunbathed us under the armpits!
