Nine years after Lubiana's appearance on The Voice Belgium, this captivating artist with golden hair has indeed found her way.

Lubiana, predestined for a musical career?

Loubiana Kepaou was born on 12 December 1993 in Belgium. Born into a family of musicians, from the age of eight, she learned to play the piano, guitar and saxophone. Enrolled at the conservatory in Leuven, she then turned to jazz. But the real turning point came when she was seventeen years old with her participation in the first season of the show The Voice Belgium. A beginning of notoriety that will give him the opportunity to ensure the first part of the European tour of the Senegalese artist Youssou N'Dour.

A multicultural artist

Lubiana is a young Belgian-Cameroonian composer and performer. The result of a miscegenation, it transports us into its universe, a meeting place between two cultures. Delivering us through his EP released on April 24, 2020 a cultural and musical crossing tinged with pop and African sounds. "May we always remember where we all came from.A formula that Lubiana strives to transmit and keep in mind. Originally from Cameroon (father) and Belgium (mother) through her pieces, she addresses themes such as the quest for identity, freedom or love. With his velvet voice, it is an invitation to travel. But an inner and outer journey because the singer went to London to write a new page and silence her fears and doubts. Then, in Los Angeles, to get out of his comfort zone, alone to find his place. And finally in Cameroon to recharge your batteries and create from Douala to Kribi etc. without ever detaching himself from his instrument the Kora. A return to his beneficial origins that allowed him to store a rain of colors and sounds. After all these years, Lubiana has been able to assert herself and create her own story and music inspired by Africa. Passionate, she takes us with her soul and limpid voice into her universe, and this, brilliantly in these five titles: Self Love I Think' Bout You My Man Is Gone Feeling Low And an original cover of Let It Be by the Beatles. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQ7iGB2htk4

"The discovery of the Kora is one of the greatest moments of my life"

The beginning, a chimerical conjuncture in 2015 when the singer was ready to "lose herself to better find herself". Lubiana was waiting for an encounter with herself, a sign from the universe. It was then that she had a dream, the one where she saw herself weightless with a harp-like instrument on her legs. It was only during a trip to Mallorca that she met this famous mysterious instrument that would change her life forever: the kora. A reconnection with her roots that she owes to this instrument from which she no longer separates. Mainly played by men (sorcerer griots), this stringed instrument is traditionally used throughout West Africa. Thus, Lubiana is one of the youngest women to play professionally in the tradition of the Karafolas, that is to say Kora players. A closed circle where she has made a place for herself among other names such as those of Madina Ndiaye, Sona Jobarteh or Senny Camara. A thirst to learn about her origins and ancestors that allowed her to find her way, her way and to sing her story because she knows who she is and where she comes from. A beautiful heritage subtly transmitted that we can't wait to listen to again on stage.
