Chris Isaak was back in Paris for a unique concert in the Olympia hall. Warmly welcomed by a dedicated audience, he gave us a beautiful demonstration of American class!

The mythical Parisian room welcomed a legend at its height Thursday, November 2. The great Chris Isaak returned to the Parisian stage after a too long absence. The singer was indeed seriously ill last year, but comes back even brighter than ever!

Theo Lawrence And The Hearts' first Olympia

Theo Lawrence And The Hearts

Before getting to the heart of the matter, we had the pleasure of opening for the band Theo Lawrence And The Hearts that we had listened to for the first time on the stage of the Mondial du Tattoo and who was also at the MaMA Event this year. Invited by the American crooner, our adorable frenchies were only 4 (their keyboardist was missing) but proudly ensured a set of a good half hour.

The opportunity to be discovered to a totally targeted audience. Indeed, their retro music between Blues, Rock'n Roll (very Rockabilly) tinged with Soul convinced Chris Isaak's fans. Before giving way to the King of the evening, Theo announces the release of their first album scheduled for early 2018 and invites the public to come and see them in concert at Les Etoiles on February 14. The set ends with the beautiful Heaven To Me.

Chris Isaak, the embodiment of the American class

Like a toreador in his suit of light… Chris Isaak is the embodiment of the American dream: a diamond enamel smile, a perfectly gummed hairstyle and an imperishable charm. He has lost none of his enthusiasm and his superb. His voice, eternally young, always capsizes hearts and we let ourselves be easily carried away by his sometimes tender, sometimes frenzied music.

After the first 3 titles, he quickly recalls that Chris Isaak is not only him, but also the group of musicians who accompany him and with whom he has been touring for a very long time. And it can be felt: on stage, it teases itself, it laughs, it sketches cleverly choreographed dance steps; The complicity is incredible
In love with Paris since always, Chris will offer himself a crowd bath from the fourth title to the delight of the public who does not come back. Live It Up is the opportunity to shake hands, selfies and this, even on the mezzanine.

An impeccable concert

If the Setlist is perfectly adjusted and rhythmic to suit everyone, we also admire the energy, the atmosphere and the quality of the show. It's set to the millimeter ready. We are dazzled by his costume, his superb guitars; We do not see the time pass and the titles that follow one another.

In the room, it reacts, sings and nods. People stand up encouraged by Chris. We shudder when his voice rises in the highs. We scream with pleasure when San Francisco Days becomes Paris Days. Inevitably the public is delighted with the eagerly awaited Blue Hotel, Wicked Game or Pretty Woman.

The keyboardist then switches to the accordion. A lot of pressure for him to play this instrument on French soil… and perform a Texas song: Only The Lonely. Sublime ballad!

Chris Isaak's confidences

The singer often talks to us about relationships… and many of those that are sometimes complicated or end badly. He says that when a couple separates, the first 3 days are important because you don't know if it's all really over. And there, the reactions are often the same: the man does not call back, because it is not done, and the relationship ends up ending: Worked It Out Wrong !

Chris Isaak reassures the publication: "If you like lost love songs we are here for that!" (Laughter from the room). He goes on to You Own Me which can be considered a "stalker" song if misinterpreted.

He then confides that they are used to playing everywhere in the USA, but that they can tour everywhere, playing in Paris, it's the best! There is a lot of pressure; Paris is the city of lovers, so everything has to be perfect! He said: "If you have someone in your life then you are lucky, you have everything. But sometimes this person can also drive you crazy." Mr. Isaak then offers us this wonderful slow bluesy, languorous and torrid: I'll Go Crazy.

The concert takes a more Rock'n Roll turn

We are approaching the end and it is with the Olympia standing that the concert continues: Down In Flames, Speak Of The Devil and the inevitable Baby Did A Bad Thing !
The band leaves the stage to be quickly recalled and Chris Isaak took the opportunity to metamorphose into a human faceted ball. It shines brightly!! He first interprets Big Wide Wonderful, a slow that slowly drips us down the back and leads many hips in the Olympia room.

The concert will end with The Way Things Really Are, a quieter ending than we would have imagined… more Americana.

A real happiness for all and a show that will remain in the memories; Chris Isaak is truly a timeless singer who knows how to gather, all generations combined, around songs and music that speak to the greatest number. May the legend continue as long as possible!
