While his animated film "Isle of Dogs" is heading for an Oscar nomination. This time, Wes Anderson's next film is a live-action France in Angoulême.

Contrary to what was said in the press last summer, the film is not a musical. According to a source close to the production, The French Dispatch is "a love letter" addressed to journalists installed in an outpost of an American newspaper in Paris during the Second World War and focusing on three plots.

A prestigious cast

As usual, Wes Anderson is surrounded by a five-star cast. He will join regulars Bill Murray, Frances McDormand and Tilda Swinton, as well as newcomers Benicio del Toro, Jeffrey Wright and French-American Timothée Chalamet (Call Me By Your  Name).

Unfortunately, the addition to the cast of Brad Pitt, Natalie Portman and Léa Seydoux still remain at the rumor stage. All three had already participated in Anderson's more or less well-known projects.Portman had starred in his short film Hotel Chevalier and made a cameo in Aboard the Darjeeling Limited.Seydoux appeared in the Oscar-winning Grand Budapest Hotel and Pitt made an appearance in the SoftBank commercial directed by Wes Anderson. All that remains is to cross your fingers and wait.

Other confirmations should take place in the following weeks since filming has just started a week ago. The French Dispatch should see the light of day in 2019.
